It reminded me why so many women struggle to stand in their power. And you can forget about this being just a nice idea!

I want to begin with a little of my own story. Not so long ago, I found myself standing in front of a county court judge. I challenged his jurisdiction. I challenged his authority to administer on my behalf. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing. I did prepare, but not enough. Something inside me refused to simply comply with a construct I had learned was false. Looking back, I realise that had I known then what I know now, chances are I would have shut him down completely.

That experience showed me something powerful: standing in your power isn’t about fighting, aggression, domination, or attacking. Rather, what you are doing is holding your ground calmly, questioning authority without collapsing into fear, and refusing to hand over your sovereignty.

And this is exactly what too many women give away, especially when it comes to their health.

What Standing in Your Power Is (And What It’s Not)

Standing in your power is:

Speaking what you know to be true with clarity and calm.

Not taking things personally.

Engaging in reasoned debate instead of emotional reactivity.

Asking questions when something doesn’t sit right.

Standing in your power is not:

Shouting louder than the other person.

Attacking or belittling others.

Getting defensive, offended, or taking things to heart.

Blindly accepting what someone in ‘authority’ says just because they wear a white coat, a suit, or a title.

Translating This to the Doctor’s Office

Take a very real scenario: you’re sitting in front of a medical professional and they recommend a hysterectomy. If you don’t want your womb removed, you must stand in your power.

|You might calmly ask:

“What else can be done?”

“If there’s nothing else, is that because you don’t know enough or don’t have the skill set to do otherwise?”

“Or is it because the system incentivises you to recommend a hysterectomy? Have you been offered a cash bonus or financial incentive for this?”

Yes: ask that question.

You’re not being controversial or disrespectful. You are simply clarifying whether invasive, irreversible surgery is the only option, or if its the easiest, most profitable, or most convenient for them.

And if a doctor tells you natural remedies don’t work? Push further:
“Is that because natural remedies truly don’t work, or because women have not been given the knowledge to understand their bodies well enough to apply them effectively?”

Your power is in the questions.

The last thing you want to do is walk out of that office in silence, nodding along, while inside you’re screaming “This doesn’t feel right.”

Yes, your doctor is a skilled professional. Respect that. But never forget… you live in your body 24/7. You are the one with the deepest experience of it. And no amount of medical training overrides that fact. Period! (pun intended)

Why People Attack You for Standing Your Ground

If you stand your ground and someone attacks you; whether it’s a doctor, a judge, a colleague, or even a loved one, remember this: it’s rarely about you.

Most of the time, it’s their ego. Their sense of authority, their belief that their position gives them superiority. When you don’t fold, you expose their fragility. And instead of self-reflection, they lash out.

Once you can see this clearly, you’ll never again feel the need to take it personally. You’ll hold the upper hand.

Developing the Skill of Power

Standing in your power is not something you perfect overnight. It’s a muscle you build; and the truth is, it often develops through tough challenges. Som you either rise to meet them or you crumble under them.

Every clash is an opportunity. You can either take the lesson, or you can walk away weaker.

5 Ways to Stand in Your Power

Ask better questions
Don’t accept answers at face value. Probe. Clarify. Challenge assumptions.

Stay calm under pressure
Your composure is your strength. The louder someone gets, the quieter you can become.

Detach from ego battles
Their reaction is not about you. It’s about them. Don’t absorb it.

Respect expertise but own sovereignty
Professionals have knowledge. But you are the authority over yourself. Never hand that over.

Practice in small situations
Power is built in everyday moments: setting boundaries, saying no, asking why. These moments are your training ground for bigger ones.

Why This Matters Now

Too many women are waiting; waiting for the government to do something, waiting for the medical system to catch up, waiting for God to swoop in and save you.

Stop waiting!

Standing in your power doesn’t mean you’ll have all the answers immediately. It means you’ll have the courage to demand and uncover then, then take action from a place of strength as opposed to fear.

You are more powerful than you’ve been led to believe. The pieces of the puzzle are there, you just haven’t been shown how to put them together yet.

But once you do, you’ll never give your power away again.

So, the next time someone tries to speak over you or decide for you, will you shrink back or will you stand in your power?

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" But what if the symptoms you’re facing weren’t just obstacles or annoyances?

What if they were openings into something far greater?

What if the exhaustion, the pain, and the frustration you’ve carried for years were actually calling you into your highest self?

Yes, I know, it sounds weird, so let me explain.

If this article stirred something in you, share it, and follow me on Substack for more truth-telling on fibroids and personal power.

Your Body Knows When It’s Time to Rise

There comes a moment when you realise healing isn’t just about removing something. It’s about becoming something…something fuller, richer, more alive than ever before.

Because healing doesn’t just shift your body. It shifts your identity.

Symptoms, illness, struggles they don’t just show up for no reason. They carry deep messages, pointing to the energy, beliefs, and patterns that are ready to transform.

So when you step into healing, you’re not just restoring balance. You’re stepping into a new era of who you are.

This is what I’ve found in my own healing journey. It was not something I was actually expecting, but now it has happened, there is no going back. The Portal has been opened.

The Path to Self-Actualisation Begins in the Body

We often think transformation is all mindset work…affirmations, journaling, vision-setting or even creating a vision board (nothing wrong with that!), but true elevation isn’t just intellectual.

It’s what you embody.

Because the body remembers everything. It holds onto stress, trauma, unspoken truths, and unclaimed power. Yes, your body keeps the score.

Healing isn’t just about detoxing, eating right, or fixing hormonal imbalances. It’s about reclaiming who you were meant to be before life, conditioning, or fear told you to play small.

Through the 4 Pillars of Elevation, healing shifts from frustration to transformation:

☑️ Detox: Clearing out everything that no longer serves, physically and emotionally.
☑️ Nourishment: Fuelling not just the body, but the soul with radical self-worth and joy.
☑️ Alignment: Understanding the deeper patterns behind your struggles and shifting them permanently.
☑️ Power: Stepping into your feminine essence, leadership, and full embodiment.

Health struggles may have led you here, but self-actualisation is where you’re going.

Loving this? You rise into the woman you were always meant to be.

And in that rise? That shift in energy, confidence, and presence?

Your true power begins.

If this resonated, here are three powerful articles to explore next:

The Journey to Feminine Power

The Lie We Were Raised to Call a Life - Part 1

Why Mindset Is the Key to Healing

This space is where I teach the real truths about fibroids, womb health, and healing: the things women are never told. length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

For so many women, fibroids are more than a physical condition, they’re a wake-up call. A signal from the body, whispering (or sometimes screaming!)…

“Gurl...it’s time to heal. Time to listen. Time to rise.”

I know exactly what its like. The doctors who dismiss your symptoms. The remedies that promise relief but don’t deliver. The exhaustion of trying everything and getting nowhere fast.

But what if we flipped it on its head and realised fibroids weren’t the issue? What if they were an invitation to help you open into the deepest, most powerful version of yourself?

Stay with me, let me explain...

Your Body Is Speaking. Are You Listening?

In the holistic world of healing , symptoms are messages. Messages to be decoded. And fibroids, in particular, tell a story...a story about suppressed energy, unmet needs, and unclaimed power.

Many women experiencing fibroids also struggle with emotional exhaustion, self-doubt, and feeling disconnected from their own worth. This is no coincidence. So this is not just about oestrogen dominance or diet (though those matter a lot).

It’s about reclaiming your body, your voice and your sovereignty.

Healing Is Transformational

True healing isn’t only just about exercise and eating right; it’s about stepping into something bigger. I call this journey the 4 Pillars of Elevation:

1) Detox: Clearing out what no longer serves you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
2) Nourishment: Fuelling the body with healing foods, but also feeding your soul with inspiration, joy, and radical self-love.
3) Alignment: Understanding the deeper patterns behind your health struggles, what they mean, and how to shift them.
4) Power: Embodying your full energy, feminine essence, leadership, and your ability to create the life you actually desire.

Fibroids may have brought you here, but the real healing isn’t just about them. It’s about you.

It’s about awakening to the wisdom of your body, the power of your presence, and the depth of your own transformation.

A Gateway to Feminine Power

What if healing your body wasn’t just about symptom relief? What if it was about stepping into your most vibrant, radiant, unapologetic self?

This is where health and leadership intertwine. When you heal, and I mean really heal, you don’t just clear up symptoms so you can ‘get back to normal’. You change your identity.

You step out of the limitations that have held you back. You rise.

And that rise? That shift in energy, confidence, and embodiment?
It’s where your true power begins.

Your Symptoms Are a Message. It’s Time to Decode Them.

You’ve been told fibroids are because of hormonal imbalances, but what if the truth ran a little deeper than that? What if your “normal” test results are only telling you part of the story, while your body is urging you to listen to something more?

It’s time to step beyond surface-level answers and uncover the root cause of your fibroids, so you can finally take back control of your health.

Inside the Fibroid Root Cause Lab Decoder, you’ll unlock:

✔ The 5 Blood Markers That Reveal Hidden Imbalances
✔ How to Decode Your Lab Results & Uncover the Truth
✔ The Next Steps to Naturally Restore Balance & Vitality

No more second-guessing. No more feeling dismissed. Just clarity, action, and a roadmap to true healing.

Download your free copy now and take Not one bit.

It never made me feel like a woman. It made me feel unclean. Every time I flooded, I felt like I was losing more than just blood...I was losing myself.

I’m telling you this because I know what it’s like.
I know how it feels.
And like so many women, I too “tried” the natural route.

I took so many supplements it’s unreal.
I was trying everything that promised relief.
And yet, a year later?

I was still flooding.

I still had clots the size of my palms.

I was still severely anaemic.
In fact, I might’ve been worse than when I started.

I had enough.

I figured surgery might fix it.
Medication hadn’t helped.
And as for the natural route? I surrendered. I trusted.

I put my healing out into the ether.
I let go and let God.

And that was the moment things began to shift, not instantly, but in profound ways.

Healing fibroids is much deeper work than I ever imagined.
Through this journey, I’ve shed so many layers and with each one, I’ve become more of myself. pharmaceutical system. Meanwhile, holistic practitioners, who view the body as a whole, are often dismissed as quacks. But if conventional medicine is the only legitimate approach, why are prescription drugs the third leading cause of death in the United States and Europe, following heart disease and cancer?

I’ve never heard of anyone overdosing on vitamin C and losing their life…have you?

The Fragmented Approach to Health

Our minds have been conditioned to believe the body can be treated like a machine, that can be broken into separate parts and managed by a different specialist. You see a cardiologist for your heart, a nephrologist for your kidneys, an ENT for your throat, and a gynaecologist for your womb. Each focuses on their specific domain, rarely considering how all systems interconnect.

But unlike car or boiler parts, human organs and systems aren’t easily replaced. Even when transplants are possible, they require lifelong rejection medication. The body is not a collection of isolated components, it is an intricate, intelligent system designed to heal when given the right conditions.

The Role of Belief in Healing

If you don’t believe you can heal, you are right.

If you do believe you can heal, you are also right.

Healing begins with faith. People often say, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” But when it comes to health, the truth is the opposite: You must believe it before you see it.

This is where many women struggle. We’ve been trained to focus only on the physical aspects of healing, taking supplements, adjusting our diet, following protocols, because that’s what we’ve been taught to do. But true healing goes far beyond the physical; it demands emotional and spiritual transformation as well. I touched on this in my recent masterclass, and it’s a principle that underpins all my work.

Healing as a Return to Wholeness

Healing is not about fixing something broken, it’s about re-establishing and reconnecting with your natural state of wholeness. It’s about raising your consciousness, aligning with the rhythms of nature, and restoring your body’s energetic balance.

True healing is about wholeness, oneness, and faith.

This is the real science, not just the ‘gold standard’ peer-reviewed studies that can be manipulated to produce the desired results. The most profound healing happens when you trust your body, listen to your intuition, and operate from a higher state of awareness.

Trust Yourself First

Before you place blind faith in scientific studies or medical authorities, believe in yourself first.

Trust your body.

Trust your intuition.

Trust that deep inner knowing, it’s never wrong. The only mistake you can make is ignoring it. I know this because I’ve done it to my own detriment more times than I care to admit.

For the last eight years, I’ve been on this journey, and I had no idea how much my life would transform simply by choosing to take responsibility for my own health. I made a decision never to outsource my well-being to anyone, because the only true expert on my body is me.

Now, my challenge to you is this:

Have so much faith in yourself that you can confidently dismiss any so-called expert who tries to convince you otherwise. Develop such deep self-trust that no matter how much pressure is placed upon you, you remain unwavering in your choices.

Of course, let’s be practical and safe…when there’s an emergency, conventional medicine is exactly what you need. But for long-term health and healing? That comes from within.

The Feminine Power of Healing

What I’m describing here is known as Feminine Power…a fundamental principle of my work. My approach is rooted in Woman-Centred Coaching, designed to unlock your full potential and shift your entire paradigm around health.

To truly heal, you must reset not only your physical body but also your mindset and belief systems. This includes confronting and releasing the limiting beliefs that keep you stuck (yes, you have them). Many women end up choosing drastic medical interventions not because healing is impossible, but because they have yet to shift their perspective on what is truly possible.

Your Reflection

So here’s my question for you:

What do you really believe? Do you trust science more than nature? Do you believe healing is something external that must be given to you, or do you recognise that healing is something you cultivate from within.

Your beliefs shape your reality. If you want a different outcome, you must first change the beliefs that created your current reality.

Question is…are you ready to make that It’s one of those words we tend to push to the side-lines, isn’t it? We live in a world that glorifies quick fixes, instant solutions, and powering through. And while this masculine approach; action-driven, linear, and laser-focused, has its place (after all, it’s what saves lives in an emergency room), it’s not the whole story when it comes to true, long-lasting healing.

The truth is, real healing isn’t something you can conquer, outsmart, or schedule. It’s not a straight road. And, ironically, it’s often the simplest things, the softest, most subtle shifts, that hold the key to transformation. But this simplicity tends to be overlooked. Why? Because the way we’ve been taught to approach life leans heavily on masculine energy: doing, fixing, achieving.

The feminine way offers a radically different path. It’s not about rejecting the masculine, no, rather, it’s about balancing it, embracing the Yin to its Yang. The feminine invites us to slow down, to feel, to trust that the body, heart, and soul know the way. It reminds us that healing is not about force or control. It’s about allowing, receiving, and surrendering.

Loving this? If you’ve broken a bone, you need immediate intervention. If you’re in the middle of a health crisis, you want a decisive, action-oriented solution. But what about the deeper wounds? The invisible ones? The emotional pain, generational trauma, limiting beliefs, the sense of disconnection that lingers even when the physical symptoms are gone?

This is where the masculine approach often falls short. It’s focused on outcomes, on fixing what’s broken, on solving the problem. But healing isn’t always a problem to solve. Sometimes, it’s a process of integration, bringing together what's been fragmented, shattered if you will. And this kind of healing requires a very different kind of energy.

The feminine way doesn’t rush in with answers. It doesn’t ask, “What’s wrong, and how do we fix it?” Instead, it asks, “What do you need to feel whole again? What needs to be heard, held, or released?” It’s about listening, feeling, and trusting that the body and soul have their own wisdom, a wisdom that can’t always be measured, mapped, or explained.

Share

The Wisdom of Yin and Yang

In Eastern philosophy, the interplay of Yin and Yang represents balance: light and dark, activity and rest, giving and receiving. The masculine (yang) energy is outward-focused, sharp, and direct. It’s the energy of doing, achieving, and moving forward. Feminine (yin) energy, on the other hand, is inward-focused, soft, and circular. It’s the energy of rest, reflection, and nurturing.

When it comes to healing, we need both. The masculine gives us structure, clarity, and the tools to take action. But the feminine is what creates the fertile ground for true transformation. It reminds us that healing is not just about what we do but how we do it. It’s about the energy we bring to the process.

Too much masculine energy in healing can feel like a battle, one where we’re constantly trying to fix, control, or push through. Feminine energy, by contrast, feels like a homecoming. It’s about creating space, trusting the process, and allowing the body and soul to unfold in their own time.

The Power of Simplicity

One of the greatest gifts of the feminine approach is its simplicity. Healing doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t require endless protocols, complex routines, or expensive tools. Often, it’s the simplest things, the things we tend to dismiss that are the most powerful.

☑️ Rest: True rest, without guilt or the need to “earn” it, is a radical act of self-love.

☑️ Breath: Something as simple as a deep, conscious breath can shift your entire nervous system.

☑️ Connection: A heartfelt conversation, a shared laugh, or simply being witnessed in your vulnerability can work wonders.

☑️ Nature: Time spent in nature doesn’t just feel good—it recalibrates your entire being, grounding you in the rhythms of life.

These simple practices are the embodiment of feminine energy. They don’t force or demand, they invite. They create space for the body, mind, and spirit to return to balance.

Surrender: The Feminine Superpower

Perhaps the most profound aspect of the feminine way is the power of surrender. Now, surrender is often misunderstood. It’s not about giving up, it’s about letting go. It’s about releasing the need to control the outcome and trusting that the process of healing will unfold exactly as it’s meant to.

This can be deeply uncomfortable, especially if you’ve been conditioned to believe that healing requires constant effort, doing, doing and more doing. But surrender is where the magic happens. It’s in the moments when we stop trying so hard, when we soften and allow ourselves to simply be, that true transformation begins.

Surrender doesn’t mean being passive. It means working in harmony with the natural flow of life, rather than against it. It’s about trusting that your body knows how to heal, that your emotions have wisdom to share, and that the universe is always conspiring in your favour, even when it doesn’t feel that way.

Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

Healing as a Return to Wholeness

At its heart, the feminine way to activate healing is about remembering. It’s about coming home to yourself, to the wisdom and wholeness that have always been within you. It’s about reclaiming the parts of yourself that you’ve pushed aside or labelled as unworthy.

Healing doesn’t have to be a battle ground. It can be an act of love, a softening, a surrender, a reunion with the truth of who you are.

The feminine way is not a prescription or a formula. It’s an invitation. An invitation to slow down, to listen, to trust. It’s an invitation to embrace the quiet power of yin energy, to honour the rhythms of your body and the cycles of life.

And perhaps most importantly, it’s an invitation to remember that healing isn’t something you achieve. It’s something you allow.

In the end, healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about uncovering the beauty, wisdom, and strength that have been there all along.

If this resonated, here are three powerful articles to explore next:

Healing the Wounded Womb

The Journey to Feminine Power

Healing Is More Than Physical

This space is where I teach the real truths about fibroids, womb health, and healing: the things women are never told. figures. This learned behavior has seeped into every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to our health. The consequences are devastating: women feel disempowered, unheard, and stuck in cycles of chronic issues that seem insurmountable.

This post isn’t about placing blame on anyone, it’s about opening our eyes. It’s about examining how our beliefs and conditioning might be the very things keeping us from taking the necessary steps to claim control over our health and, ultimately, our destiny.

A Culture of Dismissal: Why Women Are Fed Up

Women are tired…

Tired of being dismissed, minimised, and ignored.

For years, we've been told that our symptoms are "in our heads," that we're "just stressed," or that what we're experiencing is "normal." These dismissals from the medical system and society at large aren’t just annoying, they’re harmful. They perpetuate a narrative that women cannot be trusted to know their own bodies. They erode our confidence in our inner compass.

But here’s the thing: Women’s values, priorities, and challenges have shifted dramatically in recent years. We’ve learned to juggle careers, families, passions, and personal growth. We’ve learned to fight for our voices in spaces where they’ve historically been silenced. Yet, when it comes to our health, many of us still hesitate to take the reins.

Why?

Because we’ve been taught not to trust ourselves or our body.

The Belief That Holds Us Back

Many of us were raised to believe that authority figures [doctors, teachers, parents, partners], know better than we do. We’ve internalised the idea that someone else has the answers, and our role is to follow their lead.

This belief has kept us from questioning, from advocating, and from stepping into our power. When a doctor dismisses our pain, we might second-guess ourselves instead of seeking another opinion. When we’re told to “just lose weight” or “try harder,” we assume the failure is ours, rather than questioning the adequacy of the advice.

But the truth is, no one lives in your body but you. No one experiences your pain, your energy, or your intuition. No one else feels the subtle shifts that tell you when something is off.

Reclaiming Your Inner Authority

This isn’t about bashing doctors. No. Doctors have valuable expertise, and medical care is essential. But doctors are not the ultimate authority over your health. You are!

Taking control of your health means shifting your focus from seeking external validation to cultivating internal trust. It means learning to listen to your intuition, the quiet voice that tells you when something isn’t right.

For many women, this is a radical act of rebellion. We’ve been taught to dismiss our intuition as irrational or emotional. But intuition isn’t some vague, mystical concept; it’s your body’s way of communicating with you. It’s the culmination of lived experience, subconscious patterns, and biological signals.

When you ignore your intuition, you’re not just silencing yourself, you’re silencing centuries of wisdom that live within you.

Taking Full Responsibility

Taking responsibility for your health is hard. It means stepping out of the comfort zone of deference and into the sometimes uncomfortable role of decision-maker. It means realising that no one is coming to save you, not your doctor, not your partner, not some mythical authority figure.

But rather than see it as a burden, see it as an opportunity.

When you take responsibility for your health, you take back your power. You learn to ask questions, to do your own research, to seek second opinions, and to trust your gut. You become the driver of your own life, rather than a passenger.

This doesn’t mean rejecting medical care. It means integrating it into a holistic approach where you are the leader. It means seeing doctors as partners, not parents.

The Shift Starts with You

Imagine a world where women trusted themselves fully. A world where we taught our daughters to listen to their bodies and their instincts. A world where women’s voices weren’t just heard they were celebrated.

That world starts with you.

It starts with questioning the beliefs that keep you small. It starts with trusting that you already have the answers within you. And it starts with the radical, heart-wrenching decision to take full responsibility for your health and your destiny.

You are your own authority.

The question is: Are you ready to claim it?

Why “Health Tips” Are a Disservice to Your Healing Journey

Women with fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, or other chronic gynaecological conditions often look for “quick tips” to heal themselves.

Valerie-Yamina Bey

Women with fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, or other chronic gynaecological conditions often look for “quick tips” to heal themselves. A quick search online might yield advice on supplements, superfoods, or detox hacks. Social media is flooded with reels and posts claiming to have the ‘one’ magic trick you need.

And you believe it because it’s human nature to hope that something simple will fix the complexity of what you’re dealing with.

But let’s get real.

Tips are breadcrumbs. They give you a taste but leave you starving for real answers. You can’t piece together a masterpiece from scraps of information scattered across the internet. Tips are not the path to healing. They are nothing more than a distraction. They are a band-aid on a wound that requires surgery.

Let me ask you something: How long have you been collecting “tips”? Months? Years? Maybe even decades?

And where has that left you?

Are your fibroids shrinking?

Are your cycles manageable?

Are your energy levels through the roof?

Are you free from pain, bloating, and endless fatigue?

Or are you still stuck, trying to figure out why nothing is working, while the clock keeps ticking and your symptoms get worse?

I get it. The world of “tips” is seductive. They make it seem like you’re taking control, like you’re doing something. But tips don’t address why you have these issues in the first place.

When you treat your body like a patchwork quilt of random advice, you miss the whole picture. Your body is not a collection of isolated parts; it’s an ecosystem. It’s energy, cells, hormones, emotions, and spirit, all interconnected. And a “tip” won’t harmonise that symphony.

What’s worse? Relying on tips keeps you from seeking the real solution you need.

It’s like trying to climb Mount Everest with a broken compass and no map.

Healing isn’t about tips. It’s about mastery. Mastery of your health, your body, your mind, and your spirit. And mastery doesn’t come from snippets of information; it comes from a complete, holistic strategy designed to address you as a whole being.

Let me be blunt…You don’t need more tips. You need transformation.

Transformation begins when you stop trying to fix symptoms and start understanding the root cause. It happens when you shift your focus from “What can I take?” to “How can I align my entire being with healing?”

This is the essence of the Fibroid Prevention Blueprint. This is not a quick fix. This framework has been built to restore harmony to your body, right down to the cellular level.

When you commit to a proven system that dives deep into your physical, emotional, and spiritual nutrition, you’ll stop spinning your wheels on tips and start walking the path to real healing.

What You Can Do Right Now

Decide to stop settling for scraps. Recognise that “tips” are not the answer and that you deserve a tailored approach that speaks to you.

Ask the hard questions. What is the root cause of your condition? Why is your body struggling? This is where exploration begins.

Commit to mastery. Healing requires more than effort; it requires understanding, strategy, and alignment.

You are not here to “try a few things.” You are here to transform, to rise, to reclaim the feminine power that was always yours.

Are you ready to stop following breadcrumbs and start feasting on the full banquet of your health? The choice is yours.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" assertive, competitive, and constantly "on." While there is power in adaptability, there may also be unintended consequences for our health and well-being when we lose touch with our feminine essence. Metaphysically speaking, this shift can have significant implications for our balance, both physically and energetically.

From Damsel in Distress to the Heroine

The shift in how femininity is portrayed is clearly reflected in the media. Think of classic films like King Kong, where a vulnerable woman is saved by a powerful male figure from an even more powerful male Gorilla. This theme of a ‘Damsel in Distress’ mirrors what many women have experienced in real life, especially in healthcare. The doctor, often a man (acknowledging that not all doctors are male, but it remains a male-dominated industry), is seen as the authority who knows best, and women have been conditioned to depend on him for solutions. This dynamic subtly reinforces the idea that women must be saved by an external masculine force. Its the same concept religion is based on.

Fast forward to today, and we see an entirely different portrayal. Women are no longer the damsels in distress, they’re now the ones “kicking ass,” beating up the villains, and adopting a powerful, yet distinctly masculine, persona. On the surface, this might seem like progress, representing equality and strength. However, it has also contributed to the notion that to be powerful, a woman must embody masculine traits: aggression, physical strength, and dominance.

The Disconnection from Feminine Energy

True power doesn’t require abandoning one’s essence. For centuries, feminine qualities like nurturing, intuition, receptivity, and emotional intelligence have been undervalued. As a result, many women have distanced themselves from these attributes, believing that embracing softness makes them weak or incapable. We’ve adopted more masculine behaviours to succeed in a world that rewards action over stillness, competition over collaboration, and intellect over intuition.

But what happens when we continuously suppress our natural energies? When we disconnect from our feminine essence, we may be creating internal imbalance. Our bodies, much like the natural world, thrive on harmony and equilibrium. In nature, everything is in balance; like yin and yang. Yin represents the feminine: cool, nurturing, intuitive, and receptive. Yang represents the masculine: hot, assertive, action-oriented, and driven. One cannot exist without the other; they are interdependent forces, always striving for balance.

The Body's Need for Balance

This same principle of balance applies to the body. Our body is constantly working to maintain homeostasis, a state of equilibrium where everything is functioning optimally. When something shifts too far in one direction, the body makes adjustments to bring it back into balance. If we live constantly in “yang” mode, pushing ourselves, striving, and doing without rest or reflection, we deny our body the calming, restorative benefits of “yin.”

Over time, this imbalance can manifest as health issues. Chronic stress, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and reproductive health issues are all ways in which the body signals that something is off. When women take on more masculine roles and ignore their need for rest, nurturing, and connection, the body may react by creating conditions that force them to slow down, conditions like fibroids, heavy bleeding, or other reproductive challenges. It is as if the body is trying to restore the yin energy that has been neglected.

Restoring the Balance

The answer lies not in rejecting the masculine but in embracing both energies within ourselves. We are at our most powerful when we honour the full spectrum of who we are, allowing ourselves to be assertive and action-oriented when needed, but also recognising the importance of rest, intuition, and nurturing.

In our fast-paced world, it takes true courage to slow down, listen to our bodies, and honour our needs. It’s a radical act of self-care to embrace our feminine energy and trust that softness, vulnerability, and stillness are strengths, not weaknesses. By doing so, we create the balance our bodies crave and allow ourselves to thrive, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

We can’t control how society or the media portrays femininity, but we can choose how we embody it. By reconnecting with our feminine essence, we invite balance back into our lives. And when we are in balance, our health and well-being naturally improve, allowing us to live fuller, more vibrant lives. Its good to remember that true power is not about mimicking masculine strength; it’s about embracing the fullness of who we are, in perfect harmony.

Healing the Wounded Womb: Ancestral Trauma and the Path to Reclaiming Feminine Wisdom

Overcoming Generational Pain to Empower Future Generations

Valerie-Yamina Bey

When we talk about the impact of history on our lives, we often think of the big events and dates we learned in school. But history isn't just about what happened a long time ago; it's about how those events continue to shape us today. For many women, especially those descended from enslaved people, the echoes of ancestral trauma can still be felt deeply. This article explores how the wounds of the past have impacted the present, particularly in the context of women's health and well-being. We'll delve into how these unrecognised traumas have disconnected many women from their inner wisdom and divine intelligence, leading to physical and emotional struggles. We'll also discuss how healing is possible and how reconnecting with this inner wisdom can help women live their best lives.

Understanding the impact of ancestral trauma

Thanks for reading Womb-man Wise Health Substack! Dr. Joy DeGruy, in her book "Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome," explains how the trauma from the brutal system of slavery didn't just end with emancipation. Instead, it was passed down through generations, affecting the descendants of enslaved people in profound ways. This trauma manifests not just in obvious ways like poverty and systemic racism, but also in more subtle, deeply personal ways, including physical health issues.

Dr. DeGruy highlights that the constant stress and dehumanisation experienced by enslaved people led to significant psychological and emotional damage. This trauma was absorbed and carried forward by their descendants, often without conscious awareness. The chronic stress from this inherited trauma can disrupt the body's natural balance, leading to conditions such as fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and other womb-related issues. This happens because chronic stress triggers a cascade of hormonal imbalances. Cortisol, the stress hormone, remains elevated, affecting the delicate balance of other hormones like oestrogen and progesterone, which are crucial for reproductive health.

Additionally, this persistent stress can cause inflammation and weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to illnesses. The body’s constant state of fight-or-flight can also lead to poor circulation and reduced oxygenation of tissues, which are critical factors for maintaining healthy reproductive organs. Over time, these physiological disruptions can manifest as chronic conditions such as fibroids, which are often painful and debilitating.

The Wounded Womb: Its Relevance to Women of the African Diaspora

The concept of the wounded womb speaks to the deep emotional, spiritual, and physical injuries that have been carried by women of African descent through the generations. These wounds are not merely metaphorical but often manifest in the body as real health issues. The womb, as a centre of creation and femininity, holds not just the potential for life but also the scars of past traumas. For many women of African descent, the legacy of slavery, systemic oppression, and ongoing discrimination has left a profound impact on their reproductive health.

In her book "Medical Apartheid," Harriet A. Washington details the long history of medical exploitation and abuse suffered by African Americans, particularly women. This history includes unethical medical experiments, lack of informed consent, and inadequate healthcare access, all of which have contributed to a deep mistrust in the medical system. The cumulative effect of these abuses has led to generational trauma that continues to affect women's health today.

Washington's work highlights how ‘Black’ women were often subjected to invasive gynaecological procedures without anaesthesia, as was the case with Dr. J. Marion Sims' experiments. These acts of medical violence inflicted severe physical and psychological trauma, contributing to the collective suffering embodied by the concept of the wounded womb. The persistent legacy of such trauma manifests in higher rates of conditions like fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis and other womb-related issues among women of African descent.

The wounded womb symbolises the collective pain and suffering that women have endured, reflecting the unhealed traumas affecting their overall well-being. This trauma can lead to a range of reproductive health issues, including painful menstrual cycles, PMS, and difficulties with fertility. These conditions are often exacerbated by the stress and emotional pain carried in the body, illustrating the intricate link between emotional trauma and physical health.

Share this post and empower other women.

Share

Understanding Ancestral Trauma

Ancestral trauma refers to the deep-seated emotional and psychological wounds that are passed down from one generation to the next. These traumas are often the result of severe and prolonged stress experienced by ancestors, such as those who endured slavery, war, or systemic oppression. Dr. Joy DeGruy, in her book "Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome," explains how the atrocities of slavery inflicted lasting psychological damage that didn't end with the abolition of slavery but continued to affect subsequent generations.

This trans-generational impact occurs because trauma affects not only the individuals who directly experience it but also their descendants. Traumatised individuals often develop coping mechanisms and behaviours that, while necessary for survival, can become maladaptive in later contexts. These behaviours, coupled with the original trauma, are passed down through family dynamics, cultural narratives, and even epigenetic changes—alterations in gene expression caused by environmental factors rather than changes in the DNA sequence itself.

For example, the constant stress and fear experienced by enslaved people could lead to heightened anxiety and hyper vigilance, behaviours that may be transmitted to their children. Over generations, these behaviours can manifest as chronic stress responses, influencing the mental and physical health of descendants. Research in epigenetics supports this, showing that trauma can leave molecular "scars" on DNA, affecting how genes are expressed and potentially leading to a predisposition to stress-related disorders.

In the context of women's health, this ancestral trauma can have specific repercussions. The chronic stress associated with unresolved trauma can lead to hormonal imbalances and weakened immune responses, making women more susceptible to conditions like fibroids. Moreover, the emotional burden of inherited trauma can contribute to feelings of shame, guilt, and not feeling good enough, further impacting overall well-being.

The Wounded Womb

The concept of the wounded womb encompasses the emotional, spiritual, and physical injuries that women carry in their reproductive organs. In the book "The Wounded Womb," by Philip Valentine, the idea is explored in depth, highlighting how societal expectations and historical traumas have contributed to this phenomenon. One significant aspect discussed is the increased masculinity in women—how women have been forced to adopt more masculine traits, especially in the workplace, because femininity is often perceived as weak.

This shift, while beneficial in professional settings, has had detrimental effects on women's overall well-being. Louise Hay, in her book "Heal Your Body," notes that chronic womb conditions such as menstrual problems are frequently associated with the rejection of one's femininity, whilst fibroids are “a blow to the feminine ego”. When women suppress their natural feminine energy and adopt a more masculine demeanour, it can create a conflict within their bodies. This internal conflict often manifests as physical ailments in the womb.

It could be argued that the wounded womb, therefore, is not just a metaphor but a real condition that arises from the energetic footprints of the past. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt suggests that to heal physical conditions, one must address them at the level at which they were created. If fibroids and other womb-related issues stem from the echoes of ancestral trauma and the suppression of femininity, then healing must occur at the emotional and mental levels as well as the physical.

Ancestral trauma specifically impacts the feminine psyche and body in profound ways. The chronic stress and emotional pain carried from previous generations disrupts the natural flow of feminine intelligence (divine wisdom). This inner wisdom, which is essential for maintaining balance and health, becomes blocked when women are disconnected from their true selves. Unrecognised trauma leads to a disruption in the body's energy systems, causing hormonal imbalances and weakening the immune response.

This disconnection from feminine intelligence can manifest as a range of health issues, particularly those related to the womb. Women who carry the weight of ancestral trauma may find themselves struggling with feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy—emotions that further hinder their ability to embrace their femininity fully. The resulting chronic conditions are, in many ways, the body's way of signalling that deeper healing is needed.

The Role of Feminine Intelligence

Reconnecting with feminine intelligence is essential for healing, and it begins with cleansing the body from the inside out. Think of it as a spring clean. Just as a thorough house cleaning can reveal a fresh, welcoming space, detoxifying your body can help you access your inner wisdom that has been muffled by processed food, stress, work commitments, and social media.

Our modern lifestyles often burden our bodies with toxins and stress, blocking our natural flow of energy and clouding our minds. Processed foods can lead to hormonal imbalances and inflammation, while constant stress and overstimulation from work and social media can disconnect us from our inner selves. These factors not only affect our physical health but also our emotional and spiritual well-being, making it difficult to hear the quiet voice of feminine intelligence.

Healing the Wounded Womb

To reconnect with this inner wisdom, it is vital to embark on a journey of purification and self-care. This can involve adopting a cleaner diet, rich in whole, unprocessed foods that nourish the body and help restore hormonal balance. Drinking plenty of water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and reducing intake of sugars and refined foods can significantly improve physical health and mental clarity.

In addition to dietary changes, incorporating practices that reduce stress and promote relaxation is vital. Regular exercise, yoga, meditation, and adequate sleep are essential components of a holistic approach to health. These practices help to calm the mind, reduce the impact of stress, and create a more conducive environment for inner reflection and connection.

Detoxifying the body and mind creates a clearer channel for feminine intelligence to emerge. When the body is free from toxins and the mind is calm, the suppressed voice of inner wisdom can be heard more clearly. This inner voice guides women towards choices that honour their true selves and promote overall well-being.

Furthermore, reducing exposure to social media and technology can help diminish the constant noise that often drowns out our inner guidance. Setting boundaries around screen time and creating spaces for quiet reflection can foster a deeper connection with one’s inner voice.

Subscribe now

Steps to recognise and acknowledge ancestral trauma

Understanding who we truly are is essential for thriving. It is through this self-awareness that we can identify our strengths and build upon them. Healing must begin from within, especially when dealing with multiple generations of unresolved trauma that began during slavery and persists to this day. This trauma is both internal and external, as the system of oppression continues to inflict micro scars that cause ongoing mental, emotional, and physical injury.

To break this cycle, we must recognise and acknowledge ancestral trauma. Here are 9 steps to help guide this transformative process:

1. Educate Yourself: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the historical and ongoing impacts of slavery and systemic oppression. Books like Dr. Joy DeGruy's "Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome" and Harriet A. Washington's "Medical Apartheid" provide valuable insights into how these traumas have shaped current realities.

2. Reflect on Family History: Delve into your family's past. Engage in conversations with older relatives to uncover stories of their experiences and struggles. This understanding can reveal patterns of trauma and resilience, helping you connect the dots between past and present.

3. Seek Professional Help: Consider working with a therapist who specialises in trauma. Professional guidance can provide a safe space to explore and process painful memories and emotions, offering strategies for healing and coping.

4. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation: These practices foster self-awareness, helping you recognise when ancestral trauma influences your thoughts and behaviours. Mindfulness and meditation create a calm and clear mental space, making it easier to connect with your inner self.

5. Engage in Healing Rituals: Honour your ancestors and promote healing through rituals such as lighting candles, creating altars, or participating in cultural ceremonies. These practices strengthen your connection to your heritage and provide emotional healing.

6. Express Through Art: Use creative outlets like writing, painting, or music to process and express your trauma. Art can help articulate complex emotions and experiences that are difficult to convey through words alone.

7. Bodywork and Somatic Therapies: Since trauma is often stored in the body, consider incorporating therapies like yoga, Pilates, massage, or somatic experiencing. These practices help release physical and emotional tension, reconnecting you with your body.

8. Acknowledge and Validate Feelings: Allow yourself to feel and express your emotions related to ancestral trauma. Validating your feelings without judgment is vital for healing. Understand that experiencing a range of emotions is a normal part of this process.

9. Commit to Ongoing Healing: Recognise that acknowledging ancestral trauma is an ongoing journey. Regularly engage in self-care and healing practices. Be patient and compassionate with yourself, understanding that healing is a gradual process.

Living the Best Life: Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

Living our best life requires us to confront and overcome the limiting beliefs that hold us back. These beliefs, often rooted in ancestral trauma and reinforced by societal pressures, can create a powerful barrier to personal growth and fulfilment. To break free from these constraints, we must first recognise and challenge them. This will allow us to unlock our true potential.

Limiting beliefs are deeply ingrained thoughts and perceptions that dictate our self-worth and capabilities. They are often passed down through generations, embedded in cultural narratives, and shaped by our experiences of systemic oppression. These beliefs manifest as feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy, convincing us that we are not good enough or capable of achieving our dreams.

To overcome these limiting beliefs, we must engage in a process of self-exploration and transformation:

1. Identify Limiting Beliefs: Begin by becoming aware of the negative thoughts and beliefs that dominate your inner dialogue. Reflect on where these beliefs originated—whether from family, society, or personal experiences. Understanding their roots can help demystify their hold over you.

2. Challenge Negative Thoughts: Actively question the validity of your limiting beliefs. Are they based on facts or perceptions? Are they serving you or holding you back? Reframe these beliefs by replacing them with positive affirmations and evidence of your strengths and achievements.

3. Cultivate Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Acknowledge that everyone has limiting beliefs and that overcoming them is a part of the human experience. Practising self-compassion helps reduce the power of negative self-judgment and fosters a more supportive inner environment.

4. Set Realistic Goals: Break down your aspirations into manageable steps. Setting and achieving small, realistic goals builds confidence and demonstrates your ability to succeed, gradually dismantling limiting beliefs.

5. Seek Support and Mentorship: Surround yourself with positive influences who encourage and inspire you. Mentors, coaches, and supportive peers can provide guidance, motivation, and perspective, helping you stay focused on your path to growth.

6. Engage in Positive Self-Talk: Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. Regularly affirm your worth, capabilities, and potential. Over time, this practice can reshape your mindset and reinforce a more empowering belief system.

7. Embrace Failure as Learning: Understand that setbacks and failures are part of the journey. Rather than seeing them as confirmations of your limiting beliefs, view them as opportunities for growth and learning. Each experience, whether successful or not, contributes to your development.

8. Practice Mindfulness and Self-Awareness: Regular mindfulness practices, such as meditation or journaling, can help you stay connected to your thoughts and feelings. This awareness allows you to catch limiting beliefs as they arise and address them before they take hold.

9. Celebrate Progress: Recognise and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Acknowledging your progress reinforces positive beliefs about your abilities and encourages continued effort and growth.

Subscribe and stay in the loop.
