Why Holistic Healing Feels Out of Reach
And Why You Need To Think Differently
Why do so many women feel disappointed by doctors? And why does it seem like the only people offering real help; holistic practitioners, always come with a hefty price tag?
These aren’t just rhetorical questions.
They were voiced by a woman who was frustrated, disillusioned, and at her breaking point.
She’d done everything “right.” She’d gone to her GP, followed the advice, asked the questions, but still felt worse and was none the wiser.
And now, to get the kind of care she really wanted, care that looked at the full picture, she felt like she had to pay through the nose for it.
For many women, this is not just a one-off.
It’s the norm. The frustration is real. Pain is common.
And here’s why…
The Medical System Isn’t Broken. It Was Built This Way.
Let’s call it what it is: the medical model is excellent at crisis care; stopping a heart attack, setting broken bones, and managing symptoms in emergencies.
You cannot fault them. Point blank.
But when it comes to chronic, lifestyle issues, invisible conditions like Endo or PCOS, or anything related to hormones, fatigue, mood, digestion, pain, or energy…
You’ll be lucky if you get more than 7 minutes with a doctor who half-listens then sends you home with either a prescription or a dismissal:
“You’re just getting older.”
“Your labs look normal.”
“It’s in your head.”
Or in my case “Go and buy some Voltarol.”
I have not been to a doctors office since.
The frustration builds and builds…
Holistic Care Offers Something Different
Now enter holistic care.
It's not a Band-Aid, nor a pill; but a deep exploration into your body, your environment, unresolved trauma, gut health, energy levels, food, emotions and much more.
As a Holistic health coach and womb strategist.…I am the one asking:
What happened before the symptoms started?
What’s your daily rhythm like?
What’s going on in your relationships?
How does your body feel after you eat, move, cry, rest?
I trained and invested heavily and extensively to see the full picture, not just your lab results.
All that investigation takes time, attention, presence, expertise and pattern recognition. And often, I use tools the mainstream medical system doesn’t [and would not] even acknowledge.
“But Why Do I Have to Pay for It?”
Let’s get real here: the current system does not cover holistic care because it was never designed to.
Let me repeat that…
It was not designed to include holistic care!
Insurance companies operate on standardised protocols, diagnostics, and fast solutions, not customised, root-cause healing. [Healing vs. treatment]
If that was the case, my parents would be fully healed once they came out of hospital. But, instead, they were discharged barely functional, leaving the family to do the bulk of the care.
Further, if holistic care were covered, it would likely be so limited, boxed-in, and regulated that the very essence of what makes it powerful…esp. in my ability to be flexible and provide truly personalised protocols, would be stripped away.
So yes, like many practitioners, I operate privately. I don’t have much choice.
Not because I want to keep people out, but because I refuse to water what I do, down.
I don't get funding from pharmaceutical companies.
I don't have government subsidies.
I don't sell prescriptions.
And I certainly won’t be receiving any awards or accolades any time soon!
I invest in advanced trainings, certifications, testing equipment, and hours of one-to-one guidance because I believe you are worth more than 7 rushed minutes and a dismissal.
But What About the Money Honey?
This is where it gets sensitive.
Considering how much money touches every aspect of our lives, you’d think it would get talked about more? Nope! But that is another subject for another time.
Many people have money blocks around investing in their health.
They feel guilt, fear, or even shame for spending money on themselves, especially when the system has conditioned them to believe:
“Health services should be free.”
“You're selfish for spending on your own wellbeing.”
“If it's not covered, it's not real.”
One of the biggest reasons to poo poo what holistic practitioners do is because…wait for it… it's not backed by ‘science’ or placebo controlled clinical studies.
{That’s B.S., but like money, that’s another story for another day!]
But here’s the thing…healing is an investment.
No matter what, you will pay.
The question is: will you pay now or later? And what will you pay with? Your body when issues get chronic, energy wasted guessing, or money spent on things that don’t work? There will always be a cost regardless.
And if money is tight (which is very real for many), you still deserve access. That’s why there are so many flexible options: group programs, sliding scales, digital tools, payment plans, or even free resources that go far beyond what your GP offers.
The System Won’t Change Unless We Do
We are not just healing our bodies.
We are unlearning a system that told us to put all our faith in doctors.
And that takes courage.
Choosing holistic care is more than a personal decision, it’s a quiet rebellion.
It says: “I refuse to accept that feeling miserable is normal.”
It’s a shift from helplessness to empowerment.
And for every woman who has felt dismissed, gaslit, and let down by the system, know this: you are not crazy, lazy, or being overly dramatic.
You are wise for questioning.
You are brave for seeking more.
You are powerful for choosing healing, even when it feels hard.
You deserve to feel good. Not just “not sick.” But good. Alive. Energised.
And no system, medical or otherwise should be able to take that away from you.
